PLCAC Top Achiever Award

2023-2024 Top PLCAC Top Achiever Award Winner – Siobhan Marie

This year, Siobhan Marie is the winner of the 2023-2024 Top PLCAC Award. This award recognizes a student who is not only achieving academic excellence, but is already well on their way to becoming a community leader.

Siobhan is currently a first-year student at Trent University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in the Education Stream. In addition to her academic pursuits, Siobhan volunteers in her free time as the founding leader of a variety of community programs, such as ‘Stepping Stones’. The ‘Stepping Stones’ program supports local youth by providing them with access to recreational opportunities free of cost, provides schools with groceries for their breakfast programs, as well as care packages to support students and families in need. Also, she created her community’s Indigenous Literacy Revitalization project. This project has encouraged the students in her community to think critically about their roles in reconciliation, positively showcased Indigenous cultures and has positively impacted their understanding of Indigenous experiences in Canada.

After post-secondary, Siobhan hopes to continue working in the non-profit sector as well as continuing to pursue her humanitarianism through a career in education.

The PLCAC Member parent for Siobhan Marie is James Cadigan of Robert B. Somerville Co. Limited.
