Donate Here – PLCAC Give Back Challenge

Dear PLCAC Members and Friends,

The Board of Directors of the Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada authorized a pledge of $50,000 to Crisis Services Canada (CSC) to add more responders for the Canadian Suicide Prevention Service (CSPS) hot line.

An average of 10 people die by suicide in Canada every day. And, every suicide affects over 100 people and puts those who are deeply affected at higher risk for suicide themselves.

The COVID-19 pandemic and recent civil unrest have only increased the stress and anxiety for all Canadians. Since the pandemic began, CSPS saw an increase of over 60% in the number of active rescues and expect that number to increase as the cumulative impacts of the pandemic are felt.

The pipeline construction industry does not go unscathed. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among middle-aged men between the ages of 30-44 and the demographic most likely to die by suicide.

To assist with these growing needs, we have set a goal of $250,000 to fund an extra Emergency Back-Up Hub responder seat, 24/7 for one year and support up to 25,000 additional emergency responses.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am reaching out to all of our PLCAC members and friends to be part of PLCAC’s CSC Flagship Donor Campaign and our challenge to raise $250,000. by July 12, 2020.

We need your help to meet this important challenge as suicide affects all of us. Start making a difference right now. Visit www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/50031 to make your donation. All personal donations will receive an automatic tax receipt.

Sincerely,

Wayne Hodgins, Executive Director
Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada
