PLCAC Attends World Federation of Pipeline Industry Associations

PLCAC President Paul Schultz, Executive Director Neil Lane and Executive Director Designate Wayne Hodgins attended the World Federation of Pipeline Industry Associations (WFPIA) meeting on September 12th during IPLOCA’s annual convention in London.

The WFPIA provides a platform for collaboration amongst the associations related to the onshore and offshore construction of international and regional oil, gas, water and slurry pipelines. The membership of the federation is drawn from all parts of the world and currently includes: Australian Pipelines & Gas Association, Distribution Contractors Association, International Marine Contractors Association, International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association, Pipe Line Contractors Association, Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada, The Pipeline Industries Guild and the Russian Oil & Gas Contractors Union. Meetings are typically held at every annual conference or convention of each association member.

WFPIA meets to discuss areas of common interest and share information and best pipeline construction practices from all corners of the world. At this meeting, the representatives discussed safety initiatives with a focus on reduction and elimination of incidents, protection of the environment, enhancing social and cultural development programs worldwide and exploring ways to ensure that a healthy and sustainable workforce is available for the future delivery of the pipeline industry growth.

New President Inducted at IPLOCA’s 52nd Annual Convention

At the September 2018 International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association’s (IPLOCA) annual convention in London UK, Mr. John Tikkanen, from Shawcor Ltd. was inducted as the new 2018-2019 IPLOCA President.

In the early 1980s, John joined Shawcor Ltd. as a new graduate from the University of Western Ontario. During his 35+ years tenure with Shawcor Ltd., John and his family have lived in many of the pipeline sector’s most vibrant cities including Calgary, Singapore, Edinborough, and Houston.

The Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada wishes fellow Canadian, John Tikkanen much success throughout his term as IPLOCA President.
